The first time I encountered "Wankodashi" was at a marche in Ebisu about a year ago.
That day, I was slowly walking through the city with Luke, who had just started going for walks. Luke was only about 5-6 months old at the time and was full of energy, but he sometimes wouldn't drink much water when he was absorbed in playing. Even after running around a lot, he wouldn't drink much even when I offered him water, and I sometimes worried if he was getting enough hydration.
That's when I saw "Wankodashi" at the marche. I offered him some dashi that was made right there, and Luke, who had previously shown little interest in water, immediately noticed it and came closer.
Then, after taking a sip, he started drinking it down with surprising enthusiasm. I can still vividly recall that scene. Seeing his small body drinking so diligently, I remember feeling incredibly happy, thinking, "He's enjoying it so much."
Feeling that "With this, I can confidently ensure he stays hydrated" was what prompted me to start "Wankodashi".

1. A “safety net” for hydration during play and outings
   When we go to the park, Luke sometimes gets so absorbed in playing that he won’t drink water easily.
   Even after running around a lot, there are times when he still refuses to drink, which makes me worry about whether he’s staying properly hydrated.
   That’s when "Wanko Dashi" truly helps.
   Even when he shows no interest in plain water, the moment I prepare it, he notices right away, runs over, and drinks it eagerly.
   Now, it has become an essential part of our routine—a reliable way to keep him hydrated with peace of mind.
2. A smart choice for pre-activity nutrition
   Luke loves exercise and always looks forward to going to the dog run. That’s why we pay close attention to what he eats before being active.
   Considering the risk of gastric torsion, we prefer to avoid giving him solid food right before exercise.
   At the same time, we also feel uneasy letting him be active on an empty stomach.
   That’s why we give him "Wanko Dashi" before heading to the dog run.
   It gently satisfies his hunger without putting any strain on his body.
   After we return home and he has had time to settle down, we then give him his regular solid meal.
3. A shared mealtime experience for the whole family
   "Wanko Dashi" has done more than just support hydration—it has expanded the variety of meals we can prepare for Luke.
   When I make homemade herbal cookies using the powder mixed with rice flour, Luke notices the aroma right away and comes over, unable to wait.
   We also use the dashi to create dishes like steamed vegetables with egg custard, and even dry the leftover ingredients to use as a topping—making sure nothing goes to waste.
   Now, it feels like our family’s entire dining experience has become richer and more fulfilling.
